Research Analyst/Senior Paralegal

The Research Analyst/Senior Paralegal is responsible for handling a wide range of research and information requests from attorneys and staff nationwide. Requests include traditional legal research, litigation research, and business development projects. In addition, the Research Analyst/Senior Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the paralegal department with research and cite-checking tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Use Westlaw, VitalLaw, Courtlink, Case Portal and other relevant research platforms to perform complex case, statute, company, individual and business research.
- Research and review law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, and codes.
- Train attorneys and firm personnel how to use research resources in a cost-effective manner.
- Cite check legal briefs using Bluebook and California Style Manual Rules.
- Assist with the organization and updates of various firm publications as a coordinating editor.
- Implement tracking of case dockets using a variety of resources (e.g., Westlaw, Courtlink) and coordinate court document retrieval as necessary.
- Assist librarian with organization, assessment and development of print and electronic collections.
- Maintain and develop departmental intranet guides, newsletters and training tools.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree required; JD or 5 years of paralegal experience required.
- Minimum two years of experience conducting legal research in a professional setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Westlaw, Courtlink, VitalLaw, Heinonline, Accurint, TLO, PubMed, Google Scholar and PACER.
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer programs (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Adobe), with the ability to learn new applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position supports the library and attorneys with research requests. Position additionally requires the ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods and will occasionally require assistance with locating and transporting of print materials to attorney offices.
SHIFT/WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Schedule openings are 8:30-4:30 or 9:30-5:30, Monday through Friday, with 3 days per week of mandatory on site attendance. Occasional overtime may be required.

Salary range is based on our standard 35-hour workweek $83,000 - $105,000 a year, hourly rate range of $45.60 – $57.70 depending on experience level.
