Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating and highly qualified Instructional Assistant to join our team.
JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
SCHEDULE: School Year – Full-time (38 hours per week)
WAGE: $ $25.11 per hour, depending on experience
SUMMARY: The Instructional Assistant works closely with general education teachers to support classroom instruction and supervise students across various school environments. This role involves assisting with academic activities, reinforcing positive behavior, and helping to maintain a structured and supportive learning atmosphere. Additional responsibilities include monitoring students during transitions, supporting small-group or one-on-one instruction, and contributing to a safe, clean, and engaging educational environment both inside the classroom and on the playground, utilizing Positive Discipline methods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the school's academic program by assisting students in the classroom to complete the teacher's directives, moving around the room to help students stay engaged with the lesson, supporting them to focus on the activity at hand, anticipating the classroom teacher's needs, and redirecting students when necessary. Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions (copying, grading, etc.) to support teachers in maintaining student records and providing classroom materials. Monitors and supports individual students with projects assigned by the classroom teacher. Provides supervision of students during snack, recess, and lunchtime to ensure a safe environment for the students. Monitors and supervises student behavior within various school environments (e.g., classrooms, playgrounds, restrooms, and music/dance rooms) to ensure the safety and welfare of students. Assess and monitor the outside play environment for the purpose of assuring the safety of students and assisting in the maintenance of outside play equipment. Reports any issues or safety concerns to the front office.Reports observations and incidents of student behavior requiring disciplinary measures to teachers and/or the Principal. Confers with teachers and/or other school personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student progress and the implementation of student objectives. Participates in staff meetingsAssists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Agrees to specific work-related trainingCompletes mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter.Performs conflict resolution using talk-it-outs, Positive Discipline methods, etc.Abides by all personnel policies and procedures adopted by NCSOTA and the At-Will Employment AgreementPerforms other duties as assignedWORKING CONDITIONS

High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years working with children, preferably in a school settingConflict resolution training a plusOTHER REQUIREMENTS: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
