This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Intermountain Health Population Health Student Scholars program. The position oversees program administration, budget management, and long-term planning while fostering collaboration with key stakeholders. It drives initiatives in admissions, recruitment, financial aid, curriculum support, mentorship, and program evaluation to deliver a high-quality experience for students and mentors. Additionally, the role manages communications and reporting to enhance program visibility and accountability. By coordinating complex logistics and expanding opportunities, this position plays a critical role in advancing population health education and supporting organizational goals.

The ideal candidate is expected to be a self-starter, demonstrating the ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve desired outcomes. Reliability, attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and effective time management are essential qualities for this role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including physicians, faculty, and staff will be beneficial in this role. Responsibilities

Program Specialists, IV

Design and implement one or more programs for the university that carry out the organization's mission. Set goals for each program. Determine benchmarks for successful and effective programs that achieve intended goals. Ensure that the programs and services provided reflect the needs and expectations of the community. Collect feedback from members, volunteers, and staff to improve future programs/services. Responsibilities may include fundraising, budgeting, and community outreach for assigned program(s). May manage special events that publicize the organization and its programs to the community. Recognized as subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor professional. Requires specialized skill set. Conducts highly complex work, unsupervised and with extensive latitude for independent judgment.

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

This is an Advanced-Level position in the General Professional track.

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight & Coordination
  • Oversee daily operations and coordinates activities for the Intermountain Health Population Health Student Scholars program.
  • Manage program budget.
  • Help support short-, medium-, and long-term program objectives
  • Support program components including, but not limited to: admissions & recruitment; financial aid; communications; curriculum; mentorship; and evaluation.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support including scheduling meetings, seminars, and other program-related functions, including both the Fall Forum and Spring Celebration.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key program stakeholders within the SFESOM & Intermountain Health.
  • Expand program opportunities to the new Southern Utah Regional Medical Campus (SURMC).

  • Admissions and Recruitment

  • Collaborate with the admissions department on the program application process (for both Salt Lake and Southern Utah campus).
  • Ensure the program has a full applicant pool.
  • Support and organize material for the program selection committee.
  • Provide point of contact support for prospective applicants to answer questions about the program.

  • Financial Aid

  • Collaborate with the financial aid team to ensure scholars receive their financial support.
  • Meet with students in the program annually to sign documentation needed for continued financial support.
  • Track to ensure students remain in good programmatic standing.

  • Communications

  • Manages program communications, including social media and monthly newsletter, to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Drafts and edits program-related publications, promotional, and educational materials to ensure accuracy and alignment with program goals.
  • Develops, communicates, and disseminates end-of-year program reporting.

  • Curriculum

  • Administratively support the directors of the graduate certificate in population health science.
  • Administratively support PHS courses on university IT platforms (both canvas and tools).
  • Schedule and communicate logistics with PHS guest speakers and students.

  • Mentorship

  • Provide support and communication with all active mentors in the program.
  • Help onboard and answer questions for new and prospective mentors.
  • Facilitate pairings between students and mentors.

  • Evaluation

  • Prepares comprehensive end-of-year reporting detailing program status and progress for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitors program quality and effectiveness.
  • Researches and develops methods and program components for improvement.
  • Analyzes student feedback and suggestions to ensure student satisfaction and quality customer service.

  • Other Duties

  • Performs other activities and duties as assigned and as the program develops.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCYSTATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Program Specialists, IV: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences

  • Familiarity with administration in higher education and/or background or knowledge of healthcare administration, undergraduate medical education, and/or graduate medical education.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and project management skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of project coordination to effectively lead and deliver robust programs and initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in written.
  • Ability to work well and effectively with others.
  • Strong ability to adapt to day-to-day program needs.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve outcomes is essential.
  • Ability to attend in-person events and activities in Salt Lake City, Utah.
