Latitude Legal is partnering with a boutique San Diego construction and real estate litigation firm to engage a
California-licensed Construction Defect Litigation Attorney
on a
part-time, engagement basis (approx. 10–15 hours/week)
. This is a
fully remote
contract role ideal for an attorney who enjoys deep legal research and writing, motion drafting, discovery work, and substantive litigation support.

This role presents an opportunity to support seasoned trial attorneys in a sophisticated practice known for handling complex construction defect and related disputes across residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. You'll play a vital role in helping move matters forward (e.g., drafting pleadings and motions, managing written discovery, assisting with client correspondence, and preparing for hearings and depositions). What You'll Do Includes

  • Conduct legal research and drafting on construction defect and construction litigation matters.
  • Draft and revise motions, complaints, answers, responses, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Support discovery tasks, including preparing written discovery requests and responses, managing document review, and coordinating production.
  • Assist with preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial, including witness and exhibit preparation.
  • Help identify and analyze construction and design defect issues, such as structural deficiencies, code violations, water intrusion, defective workmanship, and other defect-based claims.
  • Organize and maintain litigation files, track deadlines and case status, draft correspondence, and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.

Who You Are

  • Attorney with 3+ years of California civil litigation experience, ideally including construction defect, commercial real estate, or related dispute work.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills and familiarity with California state law
  • Comfortable managing discovery, drafting pleadings and motions, and assisting with key litigation support tasks.
  • Preferred familiarity with construction defect disputes, including defects arising from design errors or faulty construction practices in residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and third parties while maintaining professional responsiveness.
  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school

Compensation

  • Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $160,000 to $200,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate's preference (each candidate's pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate's competitiveness for the position).
  • Benefits: In addition to salary, Latitude Engaged Professionals are W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan. Benefits-eligible Latitude employees receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D and professional liability insurance. Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
