Position Overview: The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Licensed Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position will be responsible for following the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.

Job Duties

  • The Electrician Apprentice will assist the Electrician with basic tasks.
  • Complete Maintenance work orders on electrical equipment. Testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment and replacing defective parts.
  • Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Up-dates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Possessing the ability to understand schematics and technical manuals
  • Must be dependable and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be willing to submit to pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.

Potential Hazards

  • Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Fit and move in confined spaces.
  • Limited working surfaces
  • Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
  • Exposure to areas with limited visibility
