Assistant Estimator

The Assistant Estimator provides critical support to the Estimating Department by assisting with bid preparation, quantity take-offs, vendor/subcontractor coordination, and cost database maintenance. This role is designed as a career-growth pathway into full Estimator or Project Manager positions, with an emphasis on developing technical knowledge of drilled shaft foundations, materials, labor, and equipment costing.
This position reports to the Division VP.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as necessary.
- Manage incoming RFPs, including logging opportunities, tracking deadlines, and ensuring all bid requirements are captured.
- Maintain and update the bid sheet/crew schedule to align resource needs with upcoming bids.
- Sort and organize bid documents (plans, specs, addenda, geotechnical reports) for estimating team use.
- Perform take-off data entry, ensuring accuracy in quantities and materials.
- Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotes; follow up for coverage and summarize bid comparisons.
- Build basic project maps using Google Maps/KMZ files to support estimating layouts.
- Collect rebar material quotes and maintain historical pricing.
- Assist senior estimators with complete bid costs, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and contingencies
- Collaborate with the VP's on active bids and proposal formatting.
- Construction management, engineering, or related field experience/education.
- Strong Excel and data-entry skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in growing into an Estimator role.
- Office-based position
- May require occasional travel to jobsites or customer locations

The expected pay range for this position is $60, ,000 with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Offers are based on various factors, including skill set, qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related reasons.
