This role leads the company's inventory control governance, manages the Customer Owned Material (COM) process, ensures Material Test Report (MTR) compliance, and purchases MRO supplies to support day-to-day operations.

In addition to owning critical compliance workflows, this position provides dotted-line guidance and oversight to teammates in our operating plants who execute inventory-related tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, ERP-proficient, and capable of coordinating across departments and locations to ensure material accuracy, traceability, and readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control Oversight

  • Lead and enforce company inventory control processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the cycle counting program across all facilities, ensuring consistent execution and timely issue resolution.
  • Provide dotted-line leadership and guidance to plant-based teammates responsible for inventory activities.
  • Monitor and report on inventory accuracy metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Support root cause analysis and process improvement for recurring inventory issues.

Customer Owned Material (COM) Management

  • Manage and enforce the COM workflow to ensure accurate intake, tracking, and processing of customer-supplied material.
  • Maintain system records and physical traceability for all COM material.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, warehouse, and operations to ensure proper handling and disposition.

MTR Verification & Compliance

  • Review and validate Material Test Reports (MTRs) for accuracy and compliance with purchase order requirements.
  • Ensure MTRs are correctly associated with the right material and uploaded into the ERP system.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Quality to resolve non-conformances or missing documentation.

Material Movement & Location Integrity

  • Submit and track material transfer requests to ensure materials are located and staged in appropriate physical and system-assigned locations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure alignment between physical storage and ERP location data.

MRO Purchasing (Maintenance, Repair & Operations Supplies)

  • Procure MRO supplies such as safety items, shop consumables, tools, and maintenance-related goods.
  • Negotiate pricing and lead times with vendors to ensure cost-effective and timely supply.
  • Monitor usage and reorder levels to prevent outages and reduce excess.
  • Maintain positive supplier relationships and ensure delivery performance meets operational needs.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion compliance with material traceability and documentation requirements.
  • Identify gaps in process execution and work with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
  • Maintain audit-readiness of documentation related to inventory, COM, and MTR compliance.
