The Clinical Assessor plays a vital role in the Dane County Treatment Court and Diversion Programs (DCTP/DCDP). This position involves utilizing clinical and actuarial risk assessment instruments to identify suitable individuals for program participation. The assessment results are critical for system decision makers in determining eligibility, assessing risk and need, and making treatment recommendations. The Clinical Assessor will generate comprehensive reports and communicate findings to relevant parties. This role requires effective management of the assessment schedule while ensuring accuracy and fidelity to assessment tools. Assessments will be conducted both in the office and at the Dane County Jail. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy and compassion, particularly when working with diverse populations experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct face-to-face substance use and actuarial risk assessments weekly for referred individuals, both in the office and at the Dane County Jail.
  • Enter completed assessments into the electronic database accurately and promptly.
  • Manage the assessment booking calendar to ensure efficient scheduling.
  • Make informed treatment and evidence-based programming recommendations based on assessment findings.
  • Provide detailed written eligibility and recommendation reports to required parties.
  • Co-facilitate evidenced-based groups such as Seeking Safety, Moral Reconation Therapy, Thinking for a Change etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate case records in the electronic database.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to further the program's mission.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related Human Services field. Must possess the education and clinical licenses required to conduct mental health and substance use disorder assessments. Candidates with an in-training license under adequate supervision will also be considered.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse economic, racial, ethnic, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
