About the job you're considering
We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Mobile Solutions Architect to lead the technical vision and strategy for our native Android and iOS applications. You will be responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, high-performance, and resilient solutions. This is a hands-on architectural role where you will be expected to dive deep into technical details, drive quality initiatives, and foster an exceptional engineering culture. This is an onsite role in Chicago, IL.
Your role
- Define and own the technical roadmap for our native mobile applications. Design scalable, resilient, and performant architectures that can handle millions of daily users and transactions.
- Act as the subject matter expert for mobile technologies, providing guidance on design patterns, frameworks, and best practices for both iOS and Android.
- Proactively identify and lead the implementation of Generative AI solutions to solve critical business problems (e.g., personalized menu recommendations, AI-powered customer service chatbots) and improve engineering workflows (e.g., code generation, automated documentation, test case creation).
- Drive the adoption of modern DevOps and SRE principles. Architect and implement solutions for continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), monitoring, logging, and performance management to ensure application reliability and uptime.
- Test Automation & Quality: Champion a culture of quality. Lead initiatives to enhance our test automation framework, ensuring comprehensive coverage and rapid feedback loops for our engineering teams.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, design principles, and code review processes to maintain a high level of code quality and consistency across the mobile engineering teams.
- Work closely with product managers, business leaders, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and align on priorities.
- Mentor senior and principal engineers, fostering a strong, positive, and collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and psychological safety.
- Proactively identify and resolve complex technical challenges, including performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and production incidents.
Your skills and experience
- 12+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 5 years in a mobile-focused architectural role.
- Deep, hands-on experience in native mobile application development for both Android and iOS.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering high-volume, enterprise-scale mobile applications that support millions of users.
- Practical experience with Generative AI technologies and their application in both user-facing features and software development lifecycle (SDLC) improvements.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with SRE concepts (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets) and DevOps practices.
- Extensive experience with test automation strategies, including unit, integration, and UI testing.
- Expertise in mobile architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI) and a solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence a positive and collaborative engineering culture.
