ASRC Federal is seeking a Test Engineer Intermediate to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Operational Technology Support Services (OTSS) in Ashburn, VA.

Work Location: Onsite (Ashburn, VA and Springfield, VA)

Clearance: Public Trust (must successfully complete a government background investigation)

Summary: The ideal candidate will be designing, implementing, and executing detailed test plans and strategies for integrating hardware systems into the network. This role involves collaborating with project management and development teams to ensure that systems meet performance, security, and compliance standards. The Test Engineer II will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated and manual test cases, conducting thorough testing processes, analyzing results, and documenting findings. This role demands strong networking background, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders across multiple teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for producing network diagrams and mapping; understanding the network topology and designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and scripts to ensure the quality and reliability of operational technology used in the CBP environment.
  • Work closely with project management, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure that all systems meet specific performance, security, and compliance metrics.
  • Support the Unattended Ground sensors (UGS) program by conducting comprehensive testing and validation of the surveillance systems to ensure their functionality and reliability.
  • Execute various testing methodologies, including functional, manual, smoke, and regression testing, to verify that the UGS meets all product requirements and specifications.
  • Responsible for automating testing scripts to enhance efficiency and accuracy in quality assessments.
  • Capture test results, perform error analysis, and contribute to troubleshooting efforts for any issues related to sensors or networking components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software and hardware testing, with a focus on system integration and performance testing.
  • Networking experience: knowledge of firewalls, routers, NAT (network address translation), switches, ports, protocols, and integration with cloud networks
  • Experience with network diagraming and topologies; network architecture experience with "as is" and ability to plan and understand the "to be".
  • Proficiency in creating test cases, executing manual and automated tests, and generating reports.
  • Experience with various testing methodologies, including functional, regression, and automated testing.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and provide detailed defect reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Successfully complete a government issued background investigation.

Certifications (desired):

  • ISTQB Certified Tester
  • CCNA
  • Cloud certification
  • Foundation Level (CTFL) or higher.
  • Familiarity with security and performance testing standards and best practices is a plus.
  • Any relevant CBP or government security certifications that demonstrate an understanding of federal compliance requirements, particularly related to cybersecurity and information systems security.
