We do not use prong collars, choker collars or e-collars, and we are seeking a Senior Dog Trainer who shares this philosophy to join our growing facility. Position Overview: As a R+ Dog Trainer at The PupperZone, you will be responsible for training dogs using positive reinforcement techniques in both private sessions and group classes. You will work with a variety of breeds, ages, and temperaments, helping them overcome behavioral challenges, build obedience skills, and increase their overall well-being. Your ability to motivate, educate, and inspire both dogs and their owners is essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities: Train Dogs Using Positive Reinforcement: Develop and implement customized training plans for dogs of all ages, focusing solely on positive reinforcement methods (treats, praise, toys, etc.). Conduct Private & Group Classes: Lead and facilitate obedience training sessions, including basic manners, advanced skills, and behavior modification. Assess Dogs and Their Needs: Observe dogs and evaluate their behavior, temperament, and progress to develop personalized training strategies. Educate Clients: Empower dog owners with the tools, knowledge, and techniques to reinforce training at home. Provide clear, actionable feedback to clients on how to improve their dog's behavior. This will include taking pictures and videos throughout the day and sending them to the clients. Foster Positive Relationships: Cultivate a safe, nurturing environment that encourages trust and confidence in both dogs and owners. Maintain Records: Keep accurate training logs, progress notes, and client files to monitor dog progress and client satisfaction. Work Collaboratively: Partner with other trainers and staff to ensure a cohesive training approach and share insights for continuous improvement. Stay Informed: Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current on the latest research and techniques in dog training and behavior science. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional dog training experience, with a focus on positive reinforcement methods. Certifications: Certification from a reputable organization such as CCPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainer), IAABC (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants), or equivalent is a plus.
Knowledgeable: Good nderstanding of dog behavior, breed differences, and training techniques. Knowledge of the latest research in animal learning theory and behavior modification. Client-Focused: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, providing clear instructions and guidance while fostering a positive, supportive training environment. Patience & Empathy: A calm demeanor and the ability to stay patient, even with challenging dogs or clients. Compassionate toward all dogs, especially those with behavioral or past trauma histories. Team-Oriented: Strong collaboration skills to work with a variety of colleagues, including trainers, veterinarians, and support staff. Physical Requirements: Ability to safely handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods during training sessions.
