Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas
- Develop innovative menu items and contribute to menu planning that aligns with customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
- Handle food ingredients responsibly, ensuring proper storage, rotation, and waste management
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders while maintaining quality standards
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and food preparation methods
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health regulations and safety protocols
Skills
- Extensive experience in sushi preparation and fine dining culinary environments
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cutting techniques for seafood and vegetables
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering services
- Background in the food industry with a focus on Japanese cuisine or similar culinary styles
- Excellent food presentation skills that enhance visual appeal and customer satisfaction
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant setting
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and management
Qualifications & Experience
- At least one year of hands-on cooking experience in the food service industry
- A solid foundation in kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety management
- Excellent knife skills and the ability to contribute to menu planning
- Experience or familiarity with catering or other food service environments is a strong advantage
- A strong sense of responsibility and professionalism, with the ability to consistently deliver high-quality dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment
