Automotive Service Writer/Advisor

Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, guiding them through their automotive service needs while ensuring a high level of satisfaction. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge will be essential in providing accurate recommendations and upselling services to enhance vehicle performance and safety.
Duties
- Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs with professionalism and courtesy.
- Write accurate Repair Orders (ROs) and communicate repair needs to technicians
- Maintain daily and weekly reporting (sales, comebacks, labor & parts)
- Manage invoices, collect payments, and handle bill payments
- Coordinate estimates, upsells, and follow-up calls
- Provide detailed explanations of services required, including oil changes, brake repairs, transmission work, and more.
- Utilize your mechanical knowledge to assist customers with vehicle maintenance inquiries and automotive diagnostics.
- Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, service recommendations, and sales transactions.
- Upsell additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition while ensuring transparency in pricing.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper cash handling procedures.
- Stay informed about the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry trends to provide informed advice to customers.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an automotive dealership or service center is highly preferred.
- Strong background in auto service management, with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Familiarity with invoicing, bill payments, and shop software
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactiveValid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Proficiency in automotive repair processes including but not limited to diesel engine repair, alignment, suspension work, tire service, shocks & struts, air brake systems, auto body repair, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with auto estimating and service writing practices is essential.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to build rapport with customers.
- Experience in sales or upselling services within an automotive context is a plus.
- A solid understanding of mechanical systems and automotive diagnostics is required.
