MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/TECHNOLOGIST

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following:


•     Follow the laboratory's procedure for specimen collection, handling and processing, as well as test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test results


•     Adhere to quality control policies


•     Document all quality controls activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance


•     Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or report of test results and either correct the problem or notify Supervisor


•     Understand all checklists and be able to perform all duties on these checklists associated with the position


•     Adhere to the safety policies as defined by the practice and OSHA


•     Other responsibilities as assigned by administration of the medical practice

Minimum Education & Other Requirements


•     Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical, biological or laboratory sciences or


•     Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology and completion of a laboratory training program or at least three months experience in each specialty of high complexity testing performed or


•     Have education equivalent to an associate degree AND graduated from a clinical laboratory training program AND have 3 months experience in each specialty of high complexity testing performed


•     Experience with Liquid Chromatography Mass spectrometry, or Beckman Coulter AU analyzer is a plus
