Job Summary
Work with staff in the Communications Dept. to create feature stories and other content for publication on the district's website, social media channels, and print materials. Assist in providing coverage for district and community events, attend school events, visit with school, and district administration and interview students and teachers for video features and social media content. Provide oversight and monitor all social media. Perform other responsibilities like a news reporter including writing stories, captioning pictures, conducting interviews, and represent the district and schools with the media. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position. Occasional evening hours will be required.
Essential Functions

- Create content such as graphics/videos to support schools and district departments with communication needs

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Education and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education preferred.
Must have a valid Driver's license
Preferred Prior Experience
Previous experience working in managing Facebook and other social media accounts.

You must be able to work unsupervised, make on the spot decisions, and represent the district favorably
Interactions with Others
You will be representing Granite School District and the Communications Department at official events, as well as school events, and with the news media. You will be expected to conduct yourself appropriately.

Working Environment
Working hours are spent both in the office environment and on location at schools or community events.
Physical Requirements – Not limited to the following:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 20 lbs.
