Career Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic

West Chester Township has an excellent opportunity for a career in fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical service. The 2026 starting salary is Step 1 - $72, Applicants with Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic service with a Village, City, County, or other Public Agency, may start as high as Step 3 - $80, The applicant's career history will be utilized in determining their entry-level. Required Qualifications:

  • Certified by the State of Ohio as an EMT or Paramedic and a minimum of Ohio Firefighter Level II at the time of appointment
  • Must be 18 years old & a high school graduate or equivalent at the time of appointment
  • EMT applicants must obtain Paramedic Certification within 3 years of enrollment into a Paramedic Program - Department will pay for Paramedic training
  • Must be physically able to perform all firefighter/paramedic duties.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hazardous Materials Technician and State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certifications or have ability to obtain within one year of hire

Applicants must schedule the written exam and physical agility test with the National Testing Network. In addition to the written and physical exam, the selection process includes the following: oral review board, polygraph, background, and drug/medical screening including a psychological evaluation.
