Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dock Supervisor to oversee daily dock operations within our logistics and supply chain environment. The ideal candidate will manage freight handling, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and warehouse distribution activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of warehouse management systems, transportation management, and supply chain processes. The Dock Supervisor will ensure efficient workflow, compliance with safety standards, and continuous process improvement to optimize overall productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily dock activities including freight loading/unloading, shipping, and receiving operations.
  • Coordinate transportation planning and fleet management to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
  • Oversee inventory management, including inventory control and warehouse distribution to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Utilize ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and AS400 for tracking shipments, inventory, and operational data.
  • Implement process improvements using lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage procurement, purchasing, dispatching, order fulfillment, and materials management activities.
  • Lead supervising staff in warehouse operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with 3PL providers and NVOCC partners to optimize freight movement and logistics solutions.
  • Monitor budget adherence related to warehouse operations and transportation costs.
  • Analyze supply chain analytics to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies across all dock activities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or in a similar logistics/supply chain management role with supervising experience.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, inventory management, warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and AS400.
  • Familiarity with freight handling, shipping & receiving procedures, procurement, dispatching, order fulfillment, fleet management, and materials management.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing or continuous improvement strategies.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively while optimizing operational costs.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in supply chain analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, demand planning, production planning, logistics coordination, and warehouse distribution processes is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or training in forklift operation or transportation management is a plus.
