New York, New York, United States Legora Full time $120,000 - $200,000 per year

About Legora
At Legora, we are building the future of legal infrastructure. Our team combines deep expertise in technology, law, and operations to create scalable solutions for some of the world's most ambitious companies. At the very core of this endeavour is the People Enablement team that helps the business grow and navigate the terrain at staggering speed. Right now we are looking for reinforcements to said team in the US. Hopefully that is where you come in…

The Role
We are seeking a
Senior People Manager, US
to join our People team and take ownership of scaling our US business. This New York City–based role reports directly to the Head of People @ Stockholm HQ, with a dotted line to the
VP North America, based in NYC
, and will be the first dedicated People/HR leader on the ground in the US.

You will be responsible for supporting and scaling our current offices in New York and Denver, while also laying the foundation for new locations as we expand. This includes owning all
US-specific People operations
- from benefits and compliance to employee relations and immigration matters - while focusing on building a strong recruitment engine and scalable people processes.

However, and let's be clear about this, your main focus will be on recruitment, making sure we get the right people through the door to contribute to Legora's continued success. This means that over time you will likely grow and lead a local People & Operations team to ensure we meet the demands of a rapidly expanding US presence.

What You'll Do

  • Scale the US team: Partner with leadership to drive recruitment, onboarding, and local talent initiatives across current and future US offices.
  • Own US HR operations: Lead benefits, compliance, immigration, employee relations, and all region-specific HR matters.
  • Be the cultural bridge: Align global people practices with local needs, ensuring a consistent employee experience.
  • Recruitment partner: Work with hiring managers to design and execute hiring strategies that attract world-class talent.
  • Grow the People/Operations function: Build scalable processes and expand the team to support growth.
  • Strategic partner: Advise leadership on organization design, retention, and performance at both local and regional levels.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in People/HR roles, ideally in high-growth and scaling environments.
  • Strong knowledge of US employment law, benefits, immigration, and compliance, with multi-state expertise preferred.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Recruitment experience (in-house) with a track record of scaling teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across functions and geographies.
  • Excitement about building culture, processes, and teams from the ground up.

Why Join Us?
Joining Legora means taking a central role in building and scaling our US operations. As the first dedicated People leader on the ground, you will shape how we grow and expand while working closely with both US leadership and our global HQ. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, and you will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where your impact will be visible from day one. This role also offers the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership position as the People & Operations function continues to expand.

We founded Legora to empower lawyers with the tools they truly deserve. We're not building for the way law is practiced today - we're reimagining how it will be practiced tomorrow.
