What You'll Do
The Repairman is responsible for informing the Supervisor of potential problems with the equipment, supplies and parts after an inspection is made or is noted during repairs. Works with other Repairmen on maintaining the equipment and is able to perform all duties within the scope of his job. Skills needed include: blueprint reading, basic millwrighting and basic welding/metal cutting.
- Follow approved safe work practices and comply with environmental regulations
- Repair and install plant equipment
- Disassembles and reassembles close fitting mechanical units throughout the plant
- Will do general mechanical work, rigging, and pipe fitting
- Has training in hydraulic systems to permit installation and maintenance of the same
- Uses skills necessary to complete job/project
- Must be able to repair any process equipment with a minimum of supervision
- Replaces square feed chutes, elevators, rolls, telsmiths, and coolers
- Will do some assembly work on new machines
- Uses machines such as drills, angle grinders, MIG and Stick welders, oxyacetylene torches, wrenches, mallets or hammers, and other associated hand tools
- Should be knowledgeable in safe rigging technique
- Troubleshoots faulty equipment, makes timely repairs and suggests improvements to increase the reliability of the equipment
- Performs Preventative and Proactive Maintenance on plantwide equipment Works with Production workforce to complete repairs with minimal downtime
- Works closely with Maintenance Manager and other department managers
- Must be able to work from ladders, operate and work from scissor lifts and man lifts, lift and position up to 50 lbs when required, stand for long periods of time when required
What You'll Need
To be successful in this position, you must:
- 3+ years' of experience, preferably in an industrial plant environment
- Experience in lift truck repair
- Be able to work in a physical environment
- Training in basic Direct Current (DC) electricity
- Your own tools
- Must be able to pass weld test
- Work well in a team environment
- Have good communication, writing, and reading skills
