Manufacturing Engineer

CSI – a custom hardware/software engineering company headquartered in Richardson, TX, is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer. As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design for manufacturing reviews, manufacturing risk and readiness assessments, production readiness reviews, supplier and subcontractor oversight, managing the Manufacturing Redline Process and compliance with SAE AS6500 Manufacturing Management Program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and refining manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Core Job Functions:
- Conducting Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, ensuring product designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency during the design process.
- Conducting Manufacturing Risk and Readiness assessments
- Conducting Production Readiness Reviews (PRR)
- Developing or maturing Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and AS6500 manufacturing plans.
- Develop and manage the Manufacturing Redline Process, including process development, submission, review, and approval workflows.
- Ensure compliance with CSI's AS9100 certified Quality Management System requirements
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and validation testing to confirm product conformance IAW AS9102.
- Maintain configuration management and traceability for all production processes and materials.
- Participate in subcontractor and supplier selection, ensuring they meet quality, risk, and cost expectations ensuring adherence to manufacturing plans, quality standards, and on-time delivery.
- Develop and maintain tooling and facility assessments, ensuring production equipment and layouts meet contract requirements.
- Assist the Director of Product Realization in manpower planning efforts, forecasting workforce needs and ensuring training programs meet certification requirements.
- Assess facility readiness for production, ensuring compliance with AS6500 Manufacturing Capability Reviews (MCRs).
Preferred Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role with expertise in process optimization, risk management, and supplier integration.
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), PFMEA, and process control plans.
- Experience in MRL Assessments, PRRs, and manufacturing readiness evaluations.
- Experience in Manufacturing Redline Process development, submission, review, and approvals.
- Experience with Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs) and Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs)
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
- Strong knowledge of SAE AS6500 Manufacturing Management Program and its applications.
- Proficiency in manufacturing modeling & simulation tools and statistical quality control methods.
- Strong understanding of process control plans, key characteristics (KCs), and critical characteristics (CCs).
- Experience in the development and management of strategic material sourcing plans, including long-lead item identification, counterfeit parts prevention, and second-sourcing strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- The selected candidate will be subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. TS.SCI clearance.
- 10+ years in a similar position with a large DoD contractor
- Familiarity with USN policy, procedures, and instructions

- Manage multiple concurrent priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Work independently as well as part of a team; self-motivated
- Be adaptive and proactive;
- Show initiative by seeking ways to improve processes and data analysis
- Deliver well-defined written products and professional presentation skills for briefings/meetings, including demonstrated ability to present information to Finance lead analyst and manager
- Perform other duties as required
