Office Assistant 1

Salary: $13 - $15 per hour

Location: West Virginia Veterans Home, Barboursville, WV

Position Overview: The West Virginia Veterans Home is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Office Assistant 1 to join our administrative team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our facility and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offering a perfect work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and direct visitors with professionalism and courtesy
• Collect and deposit monthly maintenance fees from residents
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail for the facility
• Provide general clerical support to staff, including filing, data entry, and document preparation
• Answer phones and assist with inquiries
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the Veterans Home

Preferred Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, etc.)
• Experience with email communication and digital file management
• Familiarity with routine office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax machines, and multi-line phone systems
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, and handle simple financial transactions accurately
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in clerical tasks and recordkeeping
• Honest, dependable, respect for confidentiality and the rights/privacy of residents

Desired Qualifications
