DescriptionSeeking qualified candidates to fill an exciting opportunity as a Analytical R&D Chemist position in the Analytical Group of the Technology organization in Longview, TX. Analytical R&D Chemists generally work in conjunction with peer PhD Chemist/Engineers and BS Chemists. The Analytical R&D Chemist will be responsible for developing & validating new analytical methods for the evaluation and characterization of finished products, raw materials & intermediates, and the processes used to manufacture and manage them.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for developing statistically and technically sound analytical test methods for the use in the characterization of the company's existing chemical portfolio, new chemistries in development and the processes by which both are generated.
• Responsible for characterizing raw material, intermediates and various aspects of supply chain using a combination of standard and non-standard test methods.
• Responsible for the advancement of current metrology capabilities through focused pursuit of identified technology and performance targets.
• Participation in establishing global alignment of quality processes and procedures.
• Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develop hands-on and in-depth technical expertise.
• Work in a fast paced, results-oriented team environment to assist in developing new metrologies.
• Work safely and promote a safe work environment.
Analytical R&D Chemists are expected to take the lead in safety and housekeeping. Additionally, Analytical R&D Chemists need to be self-starters, work independently, and have good personal organization skills to be successful. Flexibility is a must in this distinctly innovative environment. Candidates should have a positive social attitude and enjoy working in a team.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline from an accredited college or university required.
• Instrumentation and analytical skills experience preferred – TD/GCMS, GC/GCMS, IC/ICMS, HPLC/UPLC/LCMS, GFAA, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, Electrochemical and wet chemistry techniques. Emphasis on ICP-MS.
• Innovative and creative problem solving, math and science skills, and familiarity with statistical methodology.
• Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting.
• Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
• General computer experience with relevant Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
