Seattle, Washington, United States Oracle Full time $119,000 - $223,400 per year
Description

As part of the AI Applications team, you will design and build agentic systems that use LLMs to plan, reason, and take actions across complex workflows. In this role you will implement multi-step agent flows, integrate tools and enterprise systems, define outcomes and constraints, build evaluation suites, and iterate on self-correcting behavior. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and applied ML, integrating LLMs, retrieval, enterprise data, and deterministic policy layers into safe, reliable agents capable of performing real tasks. Engineers who enjoy iterating on system behavior and improving agent reliability will excel in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong coding skills in Java, Python and familiarity with LLM APIs and model outputs.
  • Experience building backend services, integrations, or orchestration layers for multi-step workflows.
  • Comfort working with probabilistic model behavior, iterative loops, and multi-step reasoning tasks.
  • Ability to evaluate, test, and refine agent behavior using runtime signals and structured feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience building or integrating LLM-powered applications or agents.
  • Familiarity with agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar libraries.
  • Understanding of retrieval, embeddings, routing, and tool-calling patterns.
  • Experience designing constraints, safety checks, or evaluation suites for LLM-integrated systems.
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
  • Interest in long-horizon reasoning such as repo-level tasks, migrations, or code-from-spec workflows.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement agentic workflows that enable LLMs to plan, reason, use tools, and take multi-step actions.
  • Build the APIs, services, and runtime layers that connect agents with enterprise data sources, retrieval systems, and policy enforcement layers.
  • Work with product teams to define outcomes, constraints, and evaluation methods for autonomous agents.
  • Improve production reliability through observability, test harnesses, evaluation pipelines, and iterative refinement of agent behavior.
  • Participate in design and code reviews and contribute to high-quality engineering practices and agent-first architectural design.
  • Contribute to research, prototyping, and tuning efforts for planning, tool use, and workflow decomposition.
