Full-Stack AI Engineer

Hybrid - Bay Area

We are partnered with a fast-moving early-stage AI startup building intelligent tools that help small businesses get expert-level support for marketing, operations and finance. Our product is live with paying customers and we're expanding the founding engineering team to ship ambitious AI features that turn messy business data into actionable outcomes.

This is a hands-on founding role - you'll partner with the founders to design and deliver core systems, own significant technical scope, and shape product direction from day one.

What you'll do

  • Lead design and delivery of AI-first product features (RAG, agent orchestration, LLM toolchains, embeddings).
  • Build and scale full-stack systems: customer-facing web apps, reliable APIs, infra and data pipelines.
  • Integrate with third-party SMB systems (POS, e-commerce, ads, reviews) to close the loop from data → insight → action.
  • Implement monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement for model-driven features.
  • Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and quality while maintaining long-term technical health.
  • Influence architecture, stack choices and engineering processes as the team grows.

You should have

  • 3+ years professional engineering experience (startup experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on full-stack skills: modern frontend (React, or similar) and backend (Python/Node, FastAPI/Express).
  • Practical experience shipping LLM/AI features — RAG, embeddings, LangChain/agents or equivalent production workflows.
  • Familiarity with production infra: cloud (AWS/GCP), containerization, databases and vector stores (Pinecone/pgvector/Weaviate).
  • Comfort in 0→1 environments: ownership, rapid iteration, and broad scope.
  • Strong product sense — you care about delivering measurable value to users, not just technical elegance.
