Manager, Software Development – Modern Web Applications
15 hours ago
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Development Manager who will own end-to-end responsibility for building a modern, cloud-native web application—including architecture, infrastructure, and operational excellence. This is a player-coach role: you will lead and mentor a team while remaining deeply hands-on at the architectural level, shaping technical direction and ensuring best practices. The ideal candidate is an expert in back-end development with strong containerization and event-driven architecture experience, and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks.
What You Will Be Doing In This Role:
Full Ownership
- Take responsibility for the entire application stack: architecture, development, deployment, security, and performance.
- Drive technical strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Act as the primary decision-maker for technology choices and design patterns.
Player-Coach Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers while contributing directly to architecture and critical code.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product owners and UX teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
Architecture & Engineering
- Design and implement cloud-native architectures using modern best practices.
- Define and enforce standards for microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
- Build containerized applications using Docker, EKS, ECS, or Lambda.
Front-End Guidance
- Oversee front-end development practices and ensure seamless integration with back-end services.
- Advocate for modern frameworks (React, Vue, etc) and responsive design principles.
DevOps & Reliability
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for automated deployments.
- Drive observability and performance monitoring using modern tooling.
- Ensure application security and compliance with industry best practices.
What You Bring To The Table:
- 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a management role.
- Expert-level experience in back-end development and architectural design.
- Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker, EKS, ECS) and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with front-end development using modern frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Other Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with serverless architectures and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of security best practices and observability tools.
- Exposure to modern deployment strategies and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with embedded analytics integration and BIOps workflows.
If you don't meet all the requirements mentioned above, don't worry. We strongly believe in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. If you find this job opportunity interesting but don't meet all the qualifications listed in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect candidate for this role or others like it.
PLEASE NOTE:
