This position will report to the Deputy Secretary of Environment and assist in managing DOE programs. This includes planning and organizational leadership, budgeting and fiscal management, legislative efforts, policy and regulatory decision-making, and coordination with stakeholders.This position aids the Director of Environment for planning and organizing the Division of Environment program activities to ensure work objectives are met. Responsibilities include supervising Environment Bureau Directors to ensure consistency in implementing environmental regulatory programs within the Agency.Providing assistance to the Director of Environment in managing fiscal resources for the Environment Division. Monitors spending and tracks spending against budgeted funds. Helps in the preparation of the division's budget, identifies overall fiscal needs and helps with preparing budget documents.Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:Duties will include coordinating new legislative proposals, determine fiscal impacts and providing testimony or follow-up meetings with legislators.Provide support to the Division Director for policies, quality improvement initiatives, regulatory changes or other matters that are needed by the Division Director.Helps the Director of the Environment and coordinates meeting assignments for the Division. Serves as KDHE representative at meetings with EPA, other state agencies, state associations and the general public.QualificationsEducation:High School, GEDLicensing & Certification:Minimum Qualifications:Five years of experience; three years of supervisory experience.Preferred Qualifications:Four to Six years of experience with Natural Science or Legal Degree.5 years of program management experience and 3 years of supervisory experience.Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AccessProofreading, editing, attention to detailPost-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
