Data Center Cluster Operations Leader, IAD Region, US EAST DCC

The Senior Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center environment. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a large organization, managing department heads who own data center facility infrastructure including the operational availability of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The pace, scale, and growth of Amazon's data center platform will challenge you. Key job responsibilities
Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including facilities managers, chief engineering managers and engineering operations technicians.

Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.

Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, new colocation build-outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the entire mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure to facilitate the daily operation.

Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon datacenters to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.

Vendor management of colocation data center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA's.

Oversight of a preventative maintenance system and the adherence to schedules, evaluation and performance of our infrastructure supporting the data center operations.

Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific maintenance task balancing internal skillsets with frugality.

Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.

Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
5+ years operating as a manager of managers in data centers or a manufacturing facility or as a Regional Director of Facilities Maintenance/Operations.
10+ years of relevant experience managing data center operations, facility engineering operations, critical environment facilities, data center build-outs and scaling, general manufacturing or similar

Ability to operate independently as a manager of a geographically distributed Infrastructure Operations management team.
Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams. Expert knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, and controls systems or an equivalent industry with similar complexity.
Demonstrated track record in delivering complex projects. Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for data centers to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.
Vendor management of colocation data center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA's.
Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.
Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $313,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
