Gryphon Oakwood is currently partnered with a large mechanical contractor that is seeking an experienced leader to lead large Data Center and high-tech projects . The role involves leading these commercial new-build projects while also ensuring client satisfaction. The selected individual will work alongside the pre-construction team to ensure coordinated procedures that support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of new-build and retrofit mechanical projects, with a focus on large data centers and complex commercial facilities.
- Oversee mechanical scope execution—including HVAC, piping, and critical cooling systems—ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards.
- Manage project financials, including budgets, forecasts, procurement, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Direct pre-construction activities such as mechanical estimating, design coordination, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams, field leadership, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure integrated and efficient delivery.
- Serve as the senior client interface, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive standardization, process improvement, and reporting practices to enhance consistency and operational performance.
- Mentor and lead project managers, engineers, and field teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high execution standards.
- Support business development initiatives and strategic growth opportunities within the mechanical division.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 10+ years of mechanical construction experience, including leadership of large commercial or mission-critical projects.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems for data centers, including cooling, piping, and HVAC infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of mechanical contracting, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and project controls.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects with high reliability and precision.
- Excellent executive communication and client-relationship management skills.
