Operations Specialist I

SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Operations Specialist I is to provide efficient and outstanding support to Members through "back office" operations. This support is primarily focused on the branch/call center networks. This role entails learning and understanding all processes within the Central Operations Department with focus in specific areas, as assigned of Central Operations, such as regulatory compliance, resolving returns/collections, identifying potential fraud in various transactions (ACH, check/draft, wire transfer, IRA), Member account administration, and legal garnishments/orders. It is crucial to carry out all assigned duties diligently, to possess great verbal and written communication skills, and to be able to learn complex, high-risk situations with potential for loss. While requiring some assistance for regular tasks is acceptable, one must also be capable of recognizing when escalation is necessary. Additionally, the Operations Specialist I is expected to assist the team with central processing when needed to ensure that department deadlines are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Executes tasks related to various processes such as ACH, check/draft, wire transfer, IRA, Member account administration, or legal garnishment/order, as assigned. Adheres to departmental timelines while ensuring that actions are carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures, including Reg E, UCC, IRS tax laws, Privacy Acts, and/or NACHA Operation Rules and Guidelines. Promptly identifies and reconciles monetary discrepancies in the general ledger accounts.
• Proficient in central processes including problem solving, return/collection resolution, and committed to completion. Responsibilities encompass offering recommendations for enhancing process and potentially assist in project implementation endeavors.
• Receives and promptly handles operational requests, typically completing them within a 48-hour timeframe. Furnishes requested documentation and implements necessary adjustments, letters, and/or updates to accounts. Ensures proper collection of fees in accordance with our established fee schedule.
• Provides great support services to internal departments, external agencies, and member as required, demonstrating a commitment to excellence. Escalates and troubleshoots issues to proactively mitigate potential negative impact on Members or loss to the credit union.
• Acts as a backup support resource for assigned tasks related to the departments central processes, guaranteeing the timely achievement of departmental deadlines. This entails responsibilities such as creating and updating procedures.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six to twelve months' experience in a financial institution (preferably a credit union), in a member service or support role preferred.
• Knowledge of product and services in ACH, check, wire transfer, or IRA, and competency with Alogent, Symitar, Ascensus, and Wirexchange systems is helpful
