About Us:
Botcrew is a leading Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) company delivering advanced autonomous robotic solutions across diverse industries such as construction, agriculture, solar energy, and oil & gas. Our commitment to innovation and excellence drives us to continually improve our production and customer fulfillment processes.
Role Overview:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and validating all mechanical, welding, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies throughout the production process — including final inspections on completed robots. This role ensures safety, reliability, and consistent performance of every product that goes out to customers.
In addition to performing inspections, this person will also be responsible for developing new QA checklists and quality documentation for processes that currently do not have formalized inspection steps. You will help build the quality system from the ground up, working closely with engineers and production leads.
Weldment Inspection
- Inspect raw, intermediate, and completed weldments for conformity to drawings and welding standards.
- Verify bead consistency, penetration, alignment, and weld quality.
- Check dimensional accuracy using calipers, tape measures, squares, and jigs.
Mechanical Assembly Validation
- Inspect and verify subassemblies, brackets, mounts, frames, and hardware installation.
- Confirm component positioning, torque specs, and correct fastener selection.
- Review assemblies against engineering drawings, work instructions, and BOMs.
Hydraulic System Quality Control
- Inspect correct routing, clamp spacing, and protection of hydraulic hoses.
- Confirm fittings, adapters, and connections are torqued to spec.
- Verify no twists, abrasions, leaks, or clearance issues.
- Assist with hydraulic pressure tests, leak checks, and functional validation.
Electrical & Harness Inspection
- Verify electrical harness routing, abrasion protection, connectors, and proper fastening.
- Inspect correct pinouts, continuity, polarity, and grounding.
- Ensure cleanliness, strain relief, and compliance with internal standards.
- Assist with diagnostic checks and system power-up inspection.
Final Robot Quality Inspection
- Perform a full system inspection on completed robots.
- Document all findings in QA reports before robots leave the facility.
Load checklists for:
structural integrity
- electrical functionality
- hydraulic operation
- sensor placement
- safety systems
cosmetic appearance
Validate robot readiness for shipping or deployment.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed QA checklists, defect logs, and rework orders.
- Create new QA checklists, inspection procedures, and quality documentation for assemblies and processes that do not yet have established standards.
- Communicate issues clearly to production supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
- Track recurring issues to support continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Uphold BotCrew's safety standards in all inspections.
- Ensure all assemblies meet internal and customer requirements.
- Participate in quality meetings and assist in developing SOPs and standards.
Qualifications:
Required
- 2+ years experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding inspection, mechanical assembly, or quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, mechanical layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency using measurement tools (calipers, gauges, squares, torque wrenches).
- Understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
- High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and teamwork mentality.
Preferred
- Experience inspecting weldments (AWS D1.1 familiarity is a plus).
- Experience with hydraulics or mobile equipment.
- Prior robotics or industrial equipment assembly experience.
- Quality certifications (CWI, ASQ, IPC, etc.) are a plus but not required.
