Kean Miller is seeking a Technology Onboarding and Continuing Education Trainer to work in our Technology Department in our Houston or Baton Rouge office. 

Position Overview

The Technology Onboarding and Continuing Education Trainer supports attorneys and staff by delivering structured training programs, onboarding new hires, and advancing firm-wide technology initiatives. This role ensures users have the foundational skills to succeed and promotes adoption of new tools.

The Trainer designs and leads learning programs through classroom, remote, and one-on-one instruction across general and legal-specific applications. They also contribute to IT project teams by testing, documenting, and implementing new technologies, and provide software support as needed.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Design and deliver customized training for users at all levels across a range of software and hardware
  • Develop learning materials including user guides, quick reference sheets, recorded tutorials, newsletters, and online modules
  • Conduct training sessions on legal and general technology platforms such as Microsoft 365, NetDocs, Aderant, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other collaboration tools
  • Lead new hire orientation and provide follow-up training, individual coaching, and small-group instruction
  • Support technology adoption and contribute to awareness campaigns for updates and new tools
  • Manage training logistics including scheduling, attendance tracking, and progress reporting using a learning management system
  • Collaborate with IT, administrative, and legal leadership to identify training needs and strategies
  • Create and implement comprehensive training plans and programs, including evaluation and feedback analysis
  • Provide technical support and assist with troubleshooting to minimize workflow disruptions
  • Participate in technology rollout projects by evaluating, testing, documenting, and promoting new systems
  • Maintain class management responsibilities, ensuring an engaging and productive learning environment
  • Contribute to instructional content development including objectives, visual aids, testing tools, and course handouts
  • Prepare reports on training activities and project progress
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of desktop productivity software and groupware products: Expert level proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of legal industry specific software preferred (i.e. Document Management System). Ability to learn such software, as well as software developed in house, required.
  • Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective, non-technical manner
  • Demonstrate research, analytical, and critical thinking skills within fast-paced, innovative technology environments
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and new applications/technologies
  • Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities with ease
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, verbal communication, customer service skills and collaborative mindset
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum of 5 years of corporate training experience to include classroom and e-learning
  • Ability to travel to all eight offices (overnight travel required)
  • Previous law firm experience a plus

Required Technical Knowledge

  • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise or higher
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Document management systems (DMS) experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of templates, document design, and styles
  • Camtasia or comparable learning management system 

Work Location

This position is fully in-office in either Houston or Baton Rouge office
