Job Title: Behavioral Caregiver / Companion Support Staff

Location: Largo, FL

Schedule:

  • 12 hours of support services per day (coverage needed 7 days per week)
  • 2–3 caregivers will be hired to create a rotating schedule and provide full coverage

Pay Rate: $16.00–$18.00 per hour (based on experience)

About the Role:

A caring family in Largo is seeking 2 to 3 dependable and experienced caregivers to provide 12 hours per day of support services for a female client with developmental disabilities. The client is nonverbal and ambulatory—she's generally pleasant and happy but may occasionally have behavioral outbursts and has a history of eloping (leaving home unexpectedly).

The caregivers will work collaboratively with the family to ensure continuous, quality care through a structured schedule that covers all 12 daily hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation
  • Offer companionship and ensure client safety and engagement throughout the day
  • Support community outings and encourage participation in recreational activities
  • Accompany the client and parents to doctor or therapy appointments as needed
  • Maintain a calm, safe environment and use redirection techniques to manage behavioral episodes
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks and help maintain household organization related to the client's care

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges is required
  • Must be patient, observant, and able to respond calmly to behavioral outbursts
  • Level 2 background screening required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Dependable and consistent with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with family and co-staff to maintain a consistent care schedule
