Advocacy and Resources Coordinator

SUMMARY:
The Advocacy and Resource Coordinator (ARC) is responsible for providing direct services and intensive case management to victims and survivors impacted by intimate partner and sexual violence. The ARC will assist clients with accessing internal and external resources, advocacy support, and to engage in programing to promote progress in areas of self-sufficiency. The ARC will work with community partners and providers to coordinate services and facilitate connections using a "warm hand off approach" while carrying out TurnAround's mission.
CLASSIFICATION: Non- Exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct thorough assessments and intake to determine client's eligibility and needs.
Implement programming for clients in Baltimore City and Baltimore County area.
Assist client in developing goal plans to achieve autonomy, desired outcomes, and progress in self- sufficiency.
Locate and connect clients impacted by intimate partner and sexual violence to necessary resources, internally and or externally.
Perform duties offsite as determined by funding and the position.
Serve clients impacted by one or more victimization as determined by funding and position.
Provide on-call and after hour services as determined by funding and the position.
Document client's notes and other data using agency database system (s). Maintain all client records.
Collect and document data on service impact for funders and other sources using evaluation tools.
Locate and connect clients impacted by intimate partner and sexual violence to necessary resources, internally and or externally.
Knowledgeable about current best practice trends in intimate partner violence, human
trafficking and sexual assault prevention education strategies.
- Representation of TurnAround with constituents and partnership agencies including meetings with task forces, coalitions and working groups.
Sexual Violence:
Support minor and adult age survivors of all gender identities that have been impacted by sexual assault, rape, and sexual abuse.
Participate in outreach and connect with partner entities and agencies that support victims of sexual assault including hospitals, medical centers, colleges, department of social services and law enforcement.
Be knowledgeable in victim rights and laws pertaining to sexual assault crimes and actively assist the survivor through the legal process.
Provide or coordinate court accompaniment.
Assist the survivor to access necessary resources they are eligible to receive including
victim's compensation.
- Represent the agency at County, City and State coalition, task force and work group as
appropriate.
Intimate Partner Violence:
- Support minor and adult age survivors of all gender identities that have been impacted by
intimate partner violence that experience various abuses, including stalking.
Use the lethality and high danger screening assessment tool to assess immediate shelter and services.
Participate in outreach and connect with partner entities and agencies that support victims of intimate partner violence including hospitals, medical centers, colleges, department of social services and law enforcement.
Be knowledgeable in victim rights and laws pertaining to intimate partner violence crimes and actively assist the survivor through the legal process.
Provide or coordinate court accompaniment.
Assist the survivor to access necessary resources they are eligible to receive including
victim's compensation.
- Represent the agency at County, City and State coalition, task force and work group as appropriate.
Human Trafficking:
Support minor and adult age survivors of all gender identities that have been impacted by sex trafficking and labor trafficking.
Conduct human trafficking screening assessments at various settings in the community.
Provide case management services at various settings in the community.
Participate in outreach and connect with partner entities and agencies that support victims of intimate partner violence including hospitals, medical centers, colleges, department of social services and law enforcement.
Be knowledgeable in victim rights and laws pertaining to human trafficking crimes and actively assist the survivor through the legal process.
Provide or coordinate court accompaniment.
Assist the survivor to access necessary resources they are eligible to receive including
victim's compensation.
- Represent the agency at County, City and State coalition, task force and work group as appropriate.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Participate in training and awareness opportunities to increase the knowledge of various groups on these types of victimizations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree preferred in psychology, social work, human services, or related field. Associate's Degree considered as minimum with additional relevant work experience.
Experience working with related populations or those exposed to trauma.
Experience working with populations impacted by mental health, substance abuse, legal and social services systems, and homelessness.
Knowledge of community resources and initiatives preferred.
Experience in handling crisis situations.
Requires strong interpersonal, assessment, and documentation skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Possess professional demeanor and exhibit exceptional teamwork orientation with good
written/oral communication skills.
Demonstrate person first and person-centered language skills.
Bi lingual skills desired but not required (Spanish preferred)
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to mediate issues related to clients, professionals and other constituents.
Possess critical thinking skills and judgment on when to seek the Program Manager or other positions for assistance.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proficient computer skills to operate email, Internet, Microsoft Office, and ability to navigate database entry software.
Ability to learn and navigate technology used on and off work sites (i.e., security systems, video conferencing devices, etc.)
Ability to plan, schedule, and organize work independently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is conducted at the assigned TurnAround office location and in designated community settings as determined by role. Community settings can include children and juvenile facilities, courthouses, hospital settings, law enforcement offices and other settings as necessary.
Work hours are Monday through Friday at 40 hours per week between 9am to 5pm. Staff should remain flexible to working outside of these hours and beyond 40 hours as needed to assist survivors.
TRAVEL:
Local travel is required. Travel to conduct work at settings in the community is expected. There may be travel out of jurisdiction. Must have valid driver's license and provide personal vehicle. Possible costs involving tolls, parking meters and parking garages that can be submitted for reimbursement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Possible assistance with lifting of items such as client's belongings, donations and other items received.
Some cleaning and light maintenance are also required of office space.
Climbing stairs. Reliable transportation and walking is necessary as travel between
TurnAround office locations and offsite locations that include community providers, hospital, court and other settings.
- Sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is exposed to the possibility of vicarious trauma and victim's trauma by working with clients impacted by domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence. Other exposure risk includes narcotics, alcohol, pests, Bloodborne Pathogens and other community spread diseases. Must be flexible to accommodate afterhours weekends as needed by the client, agency, and position.
