Wilson Reading Certified Teacher – In School Position

Are you a Wilson Reading Certified Teacher with a valid NYS Teaching Degree, looking to work a couple hours a week making a difference with children?

About the Role

Blue Sea Educational Consulting is seeking a Wilson Reading–Certified Instructor to provide structured literacy intervention to K–12 students during the school day in Nassau or Suffolk County.

This role is ideal for educators and literacy specialists who are retired, semi- retired, or working and just looking for additional opportunities during the day and career growth.

Required Qualifications- no exceptions:

  • Current Wilson Reading Certification (Level I or Level II)
  • Teaching certification (e.g., Literacy, Special Education, General Education)
  • Experience working with school-aged children
  • Strong understanding of structured literacy and multi-sensory instruction
  • Must reside in Nassau or Suffolk County (Eastern Queens considered)
  • Reliable transportation to designated school

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Wilson Reading System or structured literacy intervention to K–12 students
  • Deliver individualized or small-group instruction based on district needs
  • Conduct informal assessments to monitor progress and identify skill gaps
  • Develop targeted lesson plans aligned with literacy goals
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, related service providers, and families
  • Maintain accurate and timely session notes and progress documentation
  • Communicate student progress with school teams and administrators

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
