Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our compassionate dental team. The ideal candidate will support pediatric patients through all stages of dental care, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience. This role involves assisting with clinical procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining infection control standards within a busy pediatric dental practice. Prior experience in dental assisting, especially in pediatric dentistry, is highly valued. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures. Knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic is preferred to streamline patient documentation and medical records management.

Duties

  • Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Take and develop X-rays and other medical imaging as needed, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.
  • Record vital signs and monitor patient comfort during treatments, providing reassurance to young patients.
  • Manage electronic medical documentation using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical records and coding.
  • Educate patients and guardians on dental health practices tailored for pediatric needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control standards specific to pediatric dentistry.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow in collaboration with the dental receptionist.

Skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and procedures.
  • Experience with X-ray techniques and medical imaging specific to dental care.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently.
  • Skilled in vital signs measurement and infection control practices within a pediatric setting.
  • Experience with 3D scanners or advanced dental imaging tools is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members.
