Excel Restoration is seeking a motivated Controller / Senior Accountant who will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for Excel Restoration. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, support leadership with financial analysis, and ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance in all financial matters. The ideal candidate has strong construction or restoration industry experience and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate job costing and WIP (Work in Progress) reports.
  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls.
  • Coordinate with external CPA for annual tax filings and audits.
  • Review and approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
  • Provide financial insights and reporting to ownership and management team.
  • Implement process improvements and technology tools to streamline operations.
  • Support project managers with cost tracking, billing accuracy, and profitability analysis.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or restoration industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop/Online and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with project management or estimating software (e.g., Xactimate, Dash, PSA, or similar) a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical ability.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
