Job Overview 

We are seeking a customer-centric, strategic leader to serve as Head of FPGA Software Planning. In this role, you will act as the primary interface between customers, stakeholders, and FPGA development teams, ensuring that evolving customer requirements are translated into clear product roadmaps and actionable plans. You will own the end-to-end planning process for FPGA software, balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives. This is a key leadership position combining product ownership, requirements management, and program delivery expertise. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Customer Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders, actively gathering, clarifying, and prioritizing requirements for FPGA software solutions. 

  • Product Ownership: Translate customer and market needs into clear product visions, roadmaps, and feature sets; champion these requirements throughout the development lifecycle. 

  • Requirements Management: Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to define, refine, and document specifications, ensuring alignment and traceability from concept through delivery. 

  • Program Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive plans and schedules that balance customer commitments, engineering resources, and business priorities. 

  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, product management, and QA teams to drive alignment and ensure successful integration of customer requirements. 

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate progress, risks, and changes to both customers and internal teams, ensuring transparency and proactive management of expectations. 

  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze feedback from customers and development teams to optimize planning processes, enhance product quality, and drive customer satisfaction. 

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide planners and project leads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus. 

Salary Range

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 

  • 8+ years of experience in FPGA development, with at least 3 years in product owner, product management, or technical program management roles. 

  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions. 

  • Proven ability to balance customer needs with technical and business constraints. 

  • Strong understanding of FPGA architectures, development flows, and tools (e.g., Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice). 

  • Practical experience in designing FPGA logic using FPGA design tools 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Experience managing distributed or cross-functional engineering teams. 

  • Agile, Scrum, or similar product owner/project management certification is a plus. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience in customer-facing roles in telecommunications, data centers, automotive, or related industries. 

  • Familiarity with embedded software development and hardware/software integration. 

  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for FPGA-based products.
