A Mechanical Superintendent oversees mechanical construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while managing teams and coordinating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site administrative oversight and technical management of mechanical construction activities specially HVAC, including scheduling, engineering, and material control for projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to plan and execute work procedures, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Order and coordinate the procurement of tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring timely delivery aligned with project schedules.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and meets construction schedules, while also overseeing quality control measures.
- Supervise and mentor mechanical crews, ensuring effective communication and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including timecards and cost codes, to track labor costs and project progress.
- Ensure all on-site personnel comply with safety procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, document all violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective actions as required
Qualifications
- Education: Any Mechanical trading school or equivalent mechanical experience, construction management, or a related field is typically preferred. HAVC or Plumbing license is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction, with a strong background in managing mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and process piping installations.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as OSHA, CPR, and First Aid are often required.
Skills Required
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes and various piping systems.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams effectively, manage conflicts, and ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders and document project activities.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively to keep projects on track.
Work Environment
- Mechanical Superintendents typically work on construction sites, which may involve outdoor conditions and require physical activity, including standing, lifting, and climbing. They must adhere to safety regulations and may need to travel for project assignments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75, $90,000.00 per year
