On-Call Nurse Supervisor

Primary Function:
The On-Call Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all nursing-related operations within the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) during their assigned shift. This role provides clinical leadership, ensures safe and effective nursing care, and supports interdisciplinary collaboration for crisis stabilization services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls, emails, text messages, and all other forms of communication in a timely manner to ensure support for all nursing staff (RNs, LPNs).
- Provide operational support and supervision to nursing staff (RNs, LPNs) during their shift.
- Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions for the nursing staff under direct supervision.
- Assign patient care responsibilities based on staff competencies and patient acuity.
- Monitor clinical performance, provide real-time guidance, and address immediate nursing or patient care issues.
- Conduct nursing assessments and manage patient medical needs in coordination with physicians and/or psychiatrists.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient progress.
- Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies, ensuring appropriate nursing interventions and escalation of care.
- Participate in regular treatment team meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning from the nursing perspective.
- Ensure compliance with nursing protocols, infection control standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements through chart audits, daily review of Disposition Reports, and team meetings.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new nursing staff as needed.
- Communicate critical information to leadership, including the CSU Director, Medical Provider, and Executive Team as needed.
Supervisory Scope:
The On-Call Nurse Supervisor provides functional and clinical supervision to nursing staff during the shift. This includes guiding and reviewing daily workflow, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and problem-solving nursing-related challenges. The On-Call Nurse Supervisor is expected to provide input on staff performance, team dynamics, and operational challenges to the CSU Director through consistent and timely communication.
