Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a commercial truck such as a tractor-trailer to transport freight across designated routes.
  • Load and unload cargo efficiently, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods.
  • Drive with precision along assigned routes, adhering to traffic laws and company safety protocols to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
  • Manage documentation related to shipments, including delivery logs, route sheets, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any incidents encountered during transit.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with special cargo requirements such as refrigerated freight or oversized loads when necessary.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the vehicle types operated (e.g., Refrigerated trailer, Tanker).
  • Proven experience in truck driving, including route driving and delivery operations.
  • Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles preferred but not mandatory; training available for qualified candidates.
  • Experience handling different types of freight.
  • Ability to load & unload cargo safely using equipment like forklifts or roll-off trucks; forklift certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and freight handling.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with dispatch and customers.
  • Physical ability to perform duties that may include lifting heavy items or working in various weather conditions.
