Position Overview

A nationally recognized AmLaw 100 firm is seeking a high-performing Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Transactional & Regulatory group. This team advises major financial institutions, insurance carriers, reinsurers, and broker-dealers on sophisticated regulatory and transactional matters. The ideal candidate has exceptional academic credentials, strong analytical capabilities, and a background with top-tier law firms or elite boutiques.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a mid-level associate who thrives in a fast-paced practice that intersects corporate transactions, financial regulation, and insurance industry compliance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Juris Doctor from a top-ranked law school with an excellent academic record
  • Licensed and in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction (IL or NY), or eligible to waive in
  • 4–7 years of experience in any combination of:
  • Fund formation
  • Investment management
  • Broker-dealer regulatory work
  • Corporate or financial regulatory matters
  • Exposure to insurance regulatory frameworks or insurance-related transactional work is highly advantageous
  • Experience counseling insurers, financial institutions, or regulated entities is a strong plus
  • Superior writing, communication, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex assignments, prioritize deadlines, and engage directly with sophisticated clients
  • Strong tenure at prior employers (no short stints under 18 months)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regulatory guidance to insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and financial services clients
  • Assist with corporate transactions including M&A, reorganizations, joint ventures, restructurings, and market expansions
  • Interpret federal and state regulatory requirements impacting the insurance and financial services sectors
  • Collaborate across practice groups to provide integrated legal solutions
  • Draft and review regulatory filings, corporate documents, and transactional agreements
  • Interface with regulators and industry stakeholders on compliance matters
  • Participate in strategic advisory projects affecting product development, licensing, governance, and operational compliance

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $275,000–$350,000 (DOE)
