Position Overview:

Solid Power, Inc. is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of industrial automation systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi and Siemens automation platforms, and SCADA systems such as Ignition or Wonderware. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and efficient control solutions for manufacturing and process automation for the EV cell pilot line.

Job Duties:

Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs for automated systems on the battery manufacturing lineDevelop and maintain SCADA applications for real-time monitoring and controlLead control system architecture design, including I/O selection, network configuration, and safety integrationPerform system integration, commissioning, and on-site support for automation projectsCollaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless system operationSupport continuous improvement initiativesPrepare comprehensive documentation including design specifications, technical manuals, and user guides for control systems. Generate reports to communicate project status, test results, and recommendations to stakeholders

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or related fieldMinimum of 10 years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or related field within industrial manufacturingExperience with Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi and/or Siemens required Familiarity with software development tools/languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Python, Ignition) for control system integrationFamiliarity with VFD's, servo drives, and encodersControl panel building and design experienceAbility to independently troubleshoot equipment for improvement for quality and deliveryNetworking (Ethernet IP, Modbus) experienceFamiliar with NEC, OSHA, IEEE, and other standardsAutoCad, SQL, MS application experience preferredPossess good verbal and written communication skillsAbility to maintain a good working relationship with the customers, vendors, and team members and to use good judgment in recognizing scope of authorityExperience with motion control systems, robotics, and mechatronicsAble to work daily on-site at our Louisville, CO facility 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 pounds).Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.Ability to withstand exposure to noise, vibration, and extreme temperatures.Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $186,000/year
