Job Type: Part time (24 hrs/week with potential to become full time)

Compensation: $25-28/hr range, not commission based

Job Description:

The ideal sales team member has a proven successful sales history in high end sales. In addition, a passion for sculpture art, fossils, and jewelry is ideal and will make each day enjoyable. They have the ability to cultivate and grow a customer following. They are a natural conversationalist that drives sales, customer relationships ,and satisfaction. They create a shopping experience that will make the customer feel welcome and comfortable.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Set and achieve sales goals
  • Give the best service to our customers
  • Build lasting relationships with customers
  • Provide honest and confident feedback to customer
  • Seek product knowledge to build your expertise (fossil history, stones, cultural history)
  • Work with the team to keep the gallery "customer ready"
  • Keeping the art well and neatly displayed (inside and outside for potential customers walking by)
  • Light cleaning (Sales floor, shelving, polishing jewelry, and dusting)
  • Inventory Management

Must Have:

  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • A self-motivated, goal oriented focus
  • The ability to to quickly learn product knowledge
  • Strong interest to use networking and technology to achieve sales goals
  • The ability to excel in a team environment
  • The ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Organization and follow through
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs (Holidays & Weekends)
  • The ability to determine and understand customer preferences and needs

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking
  • It involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping climbing a step stool or ladder
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions
  • The ability to lift at least 40lbs. and handle fragile items

Would Like To Have:

  • Experience with Lightspeed Point of Sale or similar POS
  • Social Media Management
  • Ability to manage customer emails in a professional manner
  • Negotiation skills and strong arithmetic
  • The ability to suggest additional complimentary pieces to customers existing selection

About Us:

Fossil & Stone - Fine Art Gallery is a family run business. Eddie has been carving since 1980 in Seattle. He specializes in wildlife carvings, which are handcrafted from a variety of materails: stone, fossils, antlers, horns, and wood. Every creation is exquisite, unique, and one of a kind. Kathy (Eddie's daughter) joined the family business in 2017 to manage and direct the gallery after a career in the technology industry looking for something more fulfilling. Together they are an effective team, which will help build your knowledge pertaining to art, sales, and culture. The gallery carries sculptures, paintings, and jewelry.
