Maintenance Service Technician

The Service Technician will perform a variety of tasks to repair and maintain houses, offices, or other facilities. Supervisory Responsibilities:None. Duties/Responsibilities:Performs a variety of tasks as needed to accomplish clients request.Consults with clients to completely understand the job assignment, requirements, and preferences.Explains approach or process to clients and provides cost estimates.Maintains inventory of supplies and materials; orders more as needed.Cleans and prepares specific areas of the jobsite as assigned. This may include erecting scaffolding; cleaning up rubble, debris, and trash.Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.Cleans jobsite at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored.Gathers and delivers supplies to construction or remodeling site; confirms correct quantity, quality, and type of flooring based on specifications.Removes furniture, radiators, existing flooring, molding, or any other obstacles as needed.Inspects, levels, and readies surfaces for flooring.Makes any necessary repairs before installing floors.Installs plywood or Masonite over existing floor or covers floor in waterproof compound and fills cracks as needed.Safely and correctly uses tools such as levels, plumb lines, adhesives, knives, sanders, and cutting or carpentry tools to create smooth and professional surfaces; chooses the correct tool for the specified type of flooring.Measures rooms precisely and accurately cuts materials to specifications.Coordinates installation with other simultaneous projects, ensuring adequate drying and curing time.Installs flooring and trims excess materials.Prepares flooring for finishes and applies appropriate finishing material.Applies decorative coverings and shock-absorbing or sound-deadening materials as directed.Measures and cuts drywall panels to fit in and around specific spaces such as doors, windows, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures.Installs drywall panels to wood or metal studs.Uses drywall compound to fill in and cover joints, screws, nails, and other imperfections.Sands joint compound once dry and applies drywall tape.Creates textured surfaces when requestedInstalls new roofs and roofing materials on residential homes and commercial buildings.Inspects roofs to identify any issues in need of repair and to determine best repair solution.Measures roof and calculates materials needed to complete the project.Repairs existing roofs and installs replacement roofing materials.Replaces plywood, joists, or other materials that are damaged or rotting.Transports materials and equipment via truck to the jobsite.Performs other related duties as assigned..Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to perform a variety of maintenance or repair tasks.Ability to communicate clearly with clients.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent eye for detailAbility to correctly and safely use a variety of tools as needed to complete projects.Ability to understand and correctly calculate math and measurements.Understanding of basic building practices and procedures.Understanding of basic systems within buildings, such as electrical or plumbing.Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent highly preferred.Clean driving record as well as a valid driver's license Physical Requirements:Must have physical strength, balance, hand eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50 pound loads at a time.Must be able to work in all weather conditions.Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.Prolonged periods bending, stretching, lifting, and working on knees.Must have sufficient visual acuity to inspect fittings and straightness of flooring.Prolonged periods standing and climbing laddersPhysically able to install drywall and secure in placeMust be able to work at heightsMust be able to work some Saturdays and evenings as needed to complete jobs
