POSITION PURPOSE:

Experienced licensed engineer who can define a project, develop a set of tasks to accomplish the project, coordinate and monitor the work required, and deliver a final product on time and within prescribed budget. Responsible for the quality of work performed, managing project scope, client service & client maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
  • Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws and regulations in order to provide sound technical recommendations in writing.
  • Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
  • Perform field investigations, including the review of as-built drawings, to determine existing conditions, document findings, and provide a report to include written summary of observations, data collected, and photographs.
  • Coordinate with Government client, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and hold meetings, recommend requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate plans of action and milestones and inform all personnel.
  • Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design-bid-build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc., to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements.
  • Provide technical support for construction field activities.
  • Provide technical assistance for field investigations, witness testing, and commissioning efforts.
  • Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing.
  • Documenting all project communications
  • Participate in site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints and opportunities
  • Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.
  • Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.
  • Assist in preparing project drawings, exhibits and design documents using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Site development planning and design including stormwater management design and stormwater calculations and report writing for submissions
  • Lead civil engineering evaluations, reports, analyses and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Architectural or Engineering college curriculum.
  • Minimum 10 years design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports and in briefing management personnel.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Architectural and Engineering principles.
  • Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-discipline engineering project design and construction.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and methods and construction management.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to others
  • Ability to design all components of a project
  • Ability to manage projects from inception to completion
  • Detail-oriented time management with the ability to meet deadlines and focus on project schedules
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and verbally.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents.
  • Technical design skills in water, sewer, site planning, grading plans, drainage plans and calculations, erosion and sediment control plans.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen, possess a passport, and have the ability to travel up to 25%
  • PE – U.S. Professional Engineering Registration
  • Holds an active Q-clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Civil, Water, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience delivering engineering designs and analyses to government clients

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites, but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction. Occasional travel may be required.
