Senior Trade Compliance Advisor (Non-Attorney Role)

Target Pay Rate:
$179/hour

About the Role

Join our Trade Compliance Office (TCO) as a Senior Trade Compliance Advisor, where you'll collaborate closely with business lines, centralized organizations, and our Compliance Legal team. While this position is not a practicing legal role, your deep understanding of legal requirements and regulatory expectations will help drive compliance excellence in trade sanctions and export controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation services for restricted party screening results to business teams.
  • Lead and develop communication strategies to build awareness of Trade Sanctions & Export Controls programs.
  • Foster close partnerships across the organization, including Compliance Law and Supply Chain management.
  • Develop and maintain processes and tools supporting export controls and trade sanctions compliance.
  • Advise on the application of trade sanctions and export controls regulations.
  • Identify and drive improvements for the trade compliance program.
  • Develop and deliver training on trade sanctions and export controls.
  • Classify the export control status of company-manufactured and purchased items.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in export controls and trade sanctions compliance.
  • Expert understanding of export controls and trade sanctions regulations (OFAC, BIS); knowledge of EU and UK regulations preferred.
  • Strong experience in risk management and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and writing abilities.
  • Applicable legal credentials/certifications (not required to practice law).
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, independence, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance best practices.

  1. Export Controls expertise in classification and jurisdiction (U.S. EAR and ITAR).
  2. Trade Sanctions expertise (US, EU, UK jurisdictions).
  3. Proficiency with common restricted party screening tools.
