Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi-making techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and creativity
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing offerings
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Adhere to portion control guidelines while minimizing waste
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management
  • Provide exceptional service by ensuring that all dishes are presented beautifully and served promptly
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques related to sushi preparation

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on fine dining experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
  • Experience in menu planning and meal preparation is advantageous
  • Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various sushi-making tools and equipment
  • Background in catering or food service is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented kitchen environment
