Position Overview:
Motiva is looking to hire Instrument/Analyzer Technicians to join our Refinery and Chemicals Facility in Port Arthur. The Instrument/Analyzer Technician performs maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, installs, calibrates, and repairs process control instruments at the facility.
Instrument/Analyzer Technician roles located at Motiva's Refinery are Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated positions, and are subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair gas chromatographs, sampling systems, CEMS analyzers and other analytical instruments.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and make field repairs to actuators, switching valves, pressure switches, and regulators in sample systems.
- Maintain maintenance records on all analyzers.
- Troubleshoot and repair safety shutdown systems.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair control valves.
- Troubleshoot and repair level, temperature, pressure, and flow measure equipment.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, configure, and repair electronic transmitters.
- Overhaul, repair, and calibrate displacer level controls.
- Execute preventative maintenance on all instrumentation equipment.
- Read and interpret wire diagrams, spec sheets, loop drawings, and P&ID's.
- Update, document, and provide reports using computer systems and software.
- Interface with operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel.
- Develop and improve maintenance procedures.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 3+ years of experience working as an Instrument Technician or 1+ years of experience working as an Analyzer Technician OR must have an Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Instrumentation or Analyzer Technology
- Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card
Physical Requirements:
- Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
- Willing and able to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation
- Must be willing and able to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation

- Must be willing and able to work in self-contained breathing apparatus
This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
- Must be willing and able to be on call and meet callout standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
