Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Locator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities, pipelines, and other critical infrastructure on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and safety protocols to ensure efficient project progress and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate locating equipment to monitor the drill head's position, depth, and angle in real-time.
  • Prevent strikes on existing underground utilities by accurately locating them and communicating the bore path to the drill crew.
  • Communicate with the drill operator and other crew members to ensure the bore path stays on target.
  • Set up and calibrate locating equipment, and ensure it is functioning correctly.
  • Conduct pre-job site surveys to identify potential obstacles and ensure all utilities are accounted for.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction site operations, pipeline installation, or related fields.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, water trucks, and tanker trucks.
  • Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques and underground utility locating methods.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices for construction sites.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred for operating water trucks or tanker vehicles.
  • Experience with oil & gas projects or pipeline work is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while ensuring safety and precision in every task performed.

Pay: $ $44.00 per hour
