Job Description

Are you ready to link your passion with a purpose? At AirStrip, we build technology that enables clinicians to diagnose earlier than ever before, accelerate life-saving interventions, reduce the cost of care, and save lives.

We provide mobile-first clinical surveillance and alarm communication management technology that unlocks siloed data from patient monitors and transforms it into contextually rich information easily accessible on mobile devices and the Web. We're seeking innovative thinkers who love doing meaningful work. If you're looking to bring your skills and expertise to a growing technology company, it's time for you to join us

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer with deep cloud expertise and a serverless-first mindset to join our team at AirStrip. In this role, you will design and maintain the cloud platforms that support data ingestion and provide the runtime environment for analytics algorithms developed by our analytics team. You will focus on building event-driven, serverless systems while leveraging automation for supporting services. You'll ensure the platform can handle high-fidelity waveform ingestion, perform data quality validation, and deliver processed data to analytics functions.

If you're looking to do meaningful work, this could be the right role for you - your work directly enables potentially life-saving healthcare analytics to be deployed at scale across hospital systems, helping clinicians make faster, more informed decisions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Architect, build, and maintain serverless systems for ingestion, storage, indexing, and runtime environments for healthcare waveform analytics.
  • Document architectures, processes, and operational playbooks.
  • Develop scalable data ingestion pipelines using API gateways, object storage, and event-driven messaging.
  • Implement indexing and metadata systems with serverless functions and NoSQL databases for fast querying and data quality validation.
  • Design mechanisms for data completeness checking and signal processing pipelines that feed analytics algorithms.
  • Manage runtime orchestration using event services, message queues, and serverless functions to execute data science models.
  • Ensure cost efficiency, high availability, and compliance in serverless architectures.
  • Automate deployment pipelines with CI/CD tools (CircleCI or GitHub Actions) and support containerized workloads using Docker and Watchtower where appropriate for data processing jobs.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting with cloud monitoring, notification services, and distributed tracing.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and clinical experts to align cloud infrastructure with analytics deployment requirements.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (commensurate experience may be considered in place of a degree)
  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Solutions Architect, or related role.
  • Proven experience architecting serverless and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI or GitHub Actions) for automating serverless and infrastructure deployments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong hands-on expertise with cloud components: API gateways, object storage, event messaging, serverless functions, NoSQL databases, message queues, and monitoring services.
  • Proficiency in Python for serverless development and data processing (cloud SDKs, pandas).
  • Knowledge of data partitioning, metadata indexing, and lifecycle management in cloud storage.
  • Familiarity with Docker and container automation tools (e.g., Watchtower).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with high-volume time-series or waveform data processing.
  • Experience with healthcare data formats (e.g., HL7 FHIR, JSON-based clinical data).
  • Familiarity with real-time analytics, data completeness validation, and signal processing strategies.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, or other compliance standards for healthcare systems.
  • Experience building dashboards, APIs, or alerting mechanisms for clinical data.
  • Familiarity with for serverless development.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

The anticipated base salary for applicable remote US-based applicants to this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

  • $115,000 - $140,000 base salary, plus bonus potential.
